Chronic Pain: How To Manage It?
Pain Relief
“Ohh my God! My back is killing me!” – is it only me or does it happen to you as well? Having a desk job, I get back pain on a daily basis, making me all cranky and moody. I finally found a long-term solution for all my pain at an Ayurvedic retreat
Pain is a symptom of an underlying disease condition. The body alerts us to take care of the painful area which makes it necessary to understand the cause of the pain.
Acute pain is temporary and is caused by muscle spasms, fractures, dental work, infection, etc. Episodic pain includes Menstruation pains and Migraines. Chronic pain persists for more than 3 months or more than the normal healing time. It is caused by long-term damage to the body and should be taken care of immediately.

Why there is pain in the body according to Ayurveda?
Process of Disease Onset –
- Lifestyle, food, environment, genetic, etc
- Increase of toxins in the body
- Imbalance in the dosha of the body
- Imbalance doshas get lodged in the bones, joints, muscles, or organs symptoms occur
- Generation of symptoms like Pain, Spasm, Burning, Tingling, etc
- Disease occurs, and becomes Chronic if not taken care of
How a Wellness retreat helps in pain management?
Ayurveda works on the principle of cleaning and removing toxins and imbalanced doshas from the body. It includes various panchakarma treatments, oil massages, powdered massages, herbal enemas, and oil pouring over the painful joints. All this reduces the imbalance between the doshas.
Practicing yoga asanas daily that help release muscle spasms, stretch the joints, and increase mobility also helps in relieving the pain.
Once the balance between the dosha of the body is restored, the body starts to heal and the pain gradually subsides.
